Today I convinced two friends to meet there for a talk and a few drinks, and I asked for a double Cognac, and it came in a greasy soft drink glass. I asked the barman nicely for a suitable glass for the drink, and he responded in a rude mood: "I don't have another cup, can't you see it's busy?" And turned his back. It's a shame for a local that looks great receiving this type of treatment. Definitely, I won't visit the place in the next future.
This review is based on the period when Gary was the manager. Definitely believe there was certain groups of people he just didn't want there. The staff, however, were generally much better than the manager and in many cases embarrassed by his stance. I've heard he's left now so may give it another go one day.
Was here in 1985 (not a typo). Our Dutch school was visiting London for a few days in May I think it was. Was staying with a school friend at a house in the Moelyn Mews. Good times! Pub was great too!
Very good value meals. A good selection. A good choice of beers as well. Always pleased when I see somewhere that does a good selection of alcohol free drinks and I was pleased to see Alcohol free Cider available. Steak was well flavoured and tender. Ember inns seem to have a very good meat supplier as I have never been disappointed with their steaks. Recommended.
So many great times in this place! Friendly staff, Rashaud the manager is such a legend, looked after us all night on my birthday always made sure we had a great time. My experience couldnt have been any better ! Thanks Duck in the Pond!
